A terrible day in Mildura
Is it just me or does everyone think no parent should ever have to bury a child let alone two.
Yesterday was a hard day in Mildura…single Dad Rex Dowling buried his only son Cory.
Today is going to be tougher.Mildura will farewell three of its dead today.
Mourners will say goodbye to Cassandra Manners this morning… and many of the same mourners will return for the funeral of brother and sister Abby and Shane Hirst at 2.00pm.
The hurst family bought white coffins for their children….Messages to the teenagers have been written on the white paint by family and friends.
Thousands are expected to attend the funerals of teens killed in Saturday's horror crash in Cardross south of Mildura. Schools are open today, but not many are expected to attend.
Earlier this week letters were sent to parents outlining funeral times and advising students what to expect…..most of them have never been to a funeral…this week, they'll go to six…
I know there are lots of stories about the kind of man the driver of the vehicle was…but I can’t feel anything but incredible sorrow for him and his family.
He might have had a terrible driving record, and he might have been going to fast, but police reports say he hit a tree about one hundred metres from the party…and the car careened out of control, he managed to avoid the first group of children standing on the side of the road, but couldn’t avoid the second.
Whether he goes to jail or not, life as he knows it, for him and his large, extended Mildura family…and the families of every single one of those dead teenagers, will never be the same again.

That poor guy will have to live with that for the rest of his life I certainly hope that is enough but our justice system is pretty fair thankfully we are living in a democracy
nomatter what the circumstances, that driver did not intend to kill those kids. i can not imagine the pain those families are going through. ...and to lose 2 children from one family... unthinkable. makes you realise how quickly those you love and cherish can be taken from you.
regardless of the horror of th accident, the driver never intended to kill those kids. i can not begin to imagine the horror the families of the kids are going through. ne parent ever thinks they will bury their child. and to lose 2 children at the same time is unthinkable. it makes you realise how quickly those you love and cherish can be taken from you
I know you may think this sounds terrible but i was friends with everyone involved in that accident and Thomas Towle ( the driver) will never be able to come close to understanding the horrible pain and hurt us friends and family went through.
Nobody slept that night it took hours to identify the bodies, they couldnt even find the body of one of our mates for about an hour. we were hurting so bad not being able to know who was dead and who was alive. We're extremely fortunate that marco managed to be strong and pull through, but sadly lost Abby,Shane,Cory,Josie,Stevie and Cassie forever. No matter how bad this sounds i hope he remembers what he did for the rest of his life. he shouldn't have been speeding and shouldnt have had his son on his lap. unless you live in the town of mildura, yo havent heard every detail and im sure if you did then you wouldnt feel so sorry for him. He took the lives of 6 of our mates and know he should serve his life in jail. Im sorry if this sounds uncaring but i felt and seen the pain, and it plainly was not fair,

It is Nearly 2 years, 24 Months since Mr. Towle took the lives of 2 of my beloved mates Children, the father does not sleep, his every day life does no longer exist......He feels their pain everyday, as do all the parents with their children, the grandparents and the friends of all whom were lost in a senseless accident.......I as a personal family friend would wish that this disaster could be brought back in time, to watch Family and friends suffer so needlessly for the death of such young and talented children enjoying life’s riches and then to have my own children cry and comfort me and I them as we said our last goodbyes.... but we all know that every thing we do has consequences.
To Kate my heart aches for your pain that will travel with you for life for those lost in your heart......
Lynne and Hazza, May I pray that such an injustice of Mr. Towles negligence never infests in your life’s. As Adults we know that all life’s actions have consequences. This man took 6 children’s life’s, left his own children in a bloodied scene of absolute destruction with the dead and dying and their friends having to deal with his actions as he ran .......He Is and WAS totally irresponsible and should suffer as accordingly......My Prayers go up daily for the Families and friends of all the young beautiful life’s lost with such disregard. Responsibility comes at a cost, we choose to teach our children the responsibility of choice, this is Grown Man who took a lot of peoples choices away forever, may forever he pay for his senseless actions, as we that knew all involved will and are paying for what he did and took from us all that sad sad day in history.
May Shane & Abby Hirst, Cassandra Manners, Stevie-Lee Weight, Cory Dowling, Josephine Calvi, rest in peace assured that Justice will be served. Our and our Children’s prayers are given to all the family's and friends that still suffer from this useless action of Mr. Towles.
May God Forgive Him! As we Can NEVER !
